How Dance Classes
are Sold:
If you are reading this page it's
a pretty safe assumption that you are looking for a
place to learn Night Club Two Step. The best
way to do that is to find a dancer that dances Night
Club Two Step as you want to dance it.
When you find that person, sit them down, and ask
them a few questions about how and where they
learned Night Club Two Step. Some dancers take
classes from different studios at various times
depending on what that particular studio offers that
month. Some, on the other hand, are very loyal to
one studio.
There have been a few recent TV news items about
dance studios that use sales techniques that might
be considered improper or down right illegal. The
number of studios that engage in unfair or immoral
sales practices constitute a very small percentage
of the total number of studios. The vast majority of
dance studios would never engage in such activities.
The typical dance studio offers private lessons for
a reasonable hourly fee, or group classes that meet
for an hour every week. The price for a
private lesson from a dance instructor can start at
$50 and run as high as $100 an hour. The cost for
group classes can be anywhere from $40 to $60 a
month, or about $10 to $15 an hour.
When considering a dance studio make it a point to
ask them several questions. For
instance:
 | How long have they been in
business? |
 | Are their instructors
properly trained? |
 | Do they offer group classes
or just private lessons? |
 | How much does it cost? |
 | Are there any contracts
involved or are the classes sold on a
month-to-month basis. |
Generally speaking, if you call a
dance studio on the phone and they refuse to answer
basic questions about prices, contracts, or the
training their instructors have, you are dealing
with the wrong studio.
Additionally, when visiting a
dance studio, if you are pressured to "sign on
the dotted line" for a lengthy and expensive
contact, again you are dealing with the wrong dance
studio. When and if that happens, just get up
and leave. There are plenty of other reputable
studios to choose from.
Quality dance studios know that the best way to
survive as a business is to charge low fees with no
contracts of any kind. Then they let their
students rave about the quality of their instruction
to other dancers in the area. (word of mouth)

Quote: |
"When you are dancing with your
partner, for that two and a half minutes,
you are in love with each other. You're
corresponding with each other by the moves
that you make. It's a love affair, between
you and your partner and the music. You feel
the music, you feel your partner, she feels
you and
she feels the music. So there the three of
you are together. You've got a triangle, you
know. Which one do you love best?"
